Message from the Chair

Mark LussierI welcome you to the Department of English at Arizona State University, one of the largest and most vibrant programs in the country, and invite you to explore the diversity of the faculty and students commitments and concerns through our website. Our active and engaged group of teachers, scholars, and students pursue research in a number of traditional disciplines—such as creative writing, education, film and media studies, linguistics, literature, and rhetoric and composition—and also conduct research and publish work on the cutting edge of interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary fields—from border studies, digital humanities and material culture to literature and science, sustainability, and women’s studies. Beyond its undergraduate degrees, the department awards a large number of graduate level degrees at the MA, MAS, MFA, and PhD levels. And so, I say to the curious, “Come in and find your place,” since the abilities, insights, and skills cultivated within it can take you anywhere you wish to travel.

All kind thoughts,
Mark Lussier
